"Tet Cho Em" Volunteer Program - Supporting Children with Disabilities
Led a media team of seven to execute a fundraising campaign that successfully raised 20 million VND for a primary school for children with disabilities in Chuong My, Hanoi.
Year :
2024
Industry :
Non-Profit / Social Work
Client :
University Volunteer Program (Collaboration of 2 Clubs)
Project Duration :
2 Months

Problem :
The primary challenge was to raise awareness and significant funds for disadvantaged children at a primary school for the disabled in Chuong My, Hanoi. We had very little time before the Tet holiday to reach this target. As a new project between two different university clubs, we started with no budget and had to get 30 members to work together toward one single goal. We needed to find a way to tell the children’s stories in a way that would move people to donate and support those who face many daily struggles.

Solution :
As the Head of Media, I led a small team of seven members to handle all the social media posts and designs for the campaign. We focused on sharing real, honest stories and creating a consistent look for our photos and posters to build trust with the community. My team managed everything from the content schedule to designing all the materials used for fundraising. By working closely together and keeping our messages clear, we successfully encouraged people to help and reached our financial goal on time.

Challenge :
Managing a media team within a larger group of 30 people from different organizations required very clear communication to keep everyone on the same page. The hardest part was creating content that was deeply respectful and kind toward children with disabilities while still being effective for fundraising. We worked under a lot of pressure to meet the 20 million VND goal, ensuring that every post and design accurately showed the children's needs and the transparency of where the money would go.
Summary :
This project is one of my proudest moments in university because we successfully raised 20 million VND to help the students in Chuong My. This journey taught me that when we work with empathy and a clear plan, we can create a real positive impact for people who need it most. It proved to me the power of using communication skills to support the community and help build a better, more supportive society.
